Ramdol Role
Ramdol was appointed to oversee the fit-out and manage the integration of basebuild works on behalf of the Developer. Our role involved coordinating with the basebuild contractor, BAM, to ensure all outstanding works and defects were resolved without impacting Sony’s Fit-out. We worked closely with all parties to protect the Client’s asset, warranties, support a smooth fit-out process, and maintain progress across the project. We also supported the Client in fulfilling their obligations under the Lease and compiling the License to Alter.
Description
2 Canal Reach is a 97,000 sq. ft. multi-label headquarters for Sony Music UK, relocating from Kensington to the King’s Cross creative hub. The six-floor workspace brings together 450–1,000 employees within a cohesive yet flexible environment. Interiors are zoned by label identity, featuring unique palettes like grooved concrete for Columbia and orange corrugated metal for RCA, while maintaining an overarching modern warehouse aesthetic.
Key features include a double-height café hub, coffee bars, private study areas, breakout lounges, quiet phone booths, recording and photography studios with high-end acoustics, a library, listening rooms, and a rooftop terrace / live-performance venue.
Internal connectivity is enhanced by two bold sculptural staircases and glazed bridges to encourage chance interactions across labels. Sustainability and fit-for-purpose design were key: recycled materials, acoustic treatments including secondary glazing, repurposed furniture, and tailored zones to suit each label’s working style. The result is a vibrant, creative-first environment that supports collaborative culture while celebrating each brand’s identity.
